On a Friday night in July with tricky weather conditions made for an interesting night of photography. After researching for an entire week of locations and weather conditions hoping to capture the Milky Way, Cape Schanck had the best potential. I headed down at 9pm and arrived just after 10pm and the clouds were still hovering above and so the waiting game began. I met some wonderful people who had travelled to Australia from China and were there in hopes to see the galaxy as some had never witnessed it before. Once the clouds had cleared around 11pm, my plan was to head down to Pulpit Rock, but about half way down the galaxy was behind the rocks and was just not going to line up and so I headed to the lighthouse. The galaxy just aligned perfectly with the lighthouse and the lights did not interfere with drowning out the stars. I captured this shot with my brand new Canon 14mm F1.4 and an exposure time of 8 seconds at midnight.
