Palm by the Beach
A trip to the Whitsunday Islands, staying on Hamilton Island and only a short walk to the beach from where I was staying was an array of palm trees. Never visiting Hamilton Island before and only hearing stories about it, it truly is a tropical haven within Australia. I loved the palm trees so much that I knew I wanted a shot looking out to the beach. I found this isolated palm tree in front of the rest and when playing around with compositions I found angling up and allowing the other palm trees to enter the top of the frame created an amazing border that shelters and fills the isolated palm tree nicely. I found the composition and then came the challenge, capturing it with the right light. I spend 4 days capturing this composition and this photo was captured on the 3rd day during the middle of the day with the bright harsh light shining through. Most of the time its not ideal to shoot with the harsh light, but it just lite up the water beautifully and the whole scene just screamed that wonderful tropical getaway.
